Car Accident Lawyer in Royal Palm Beach

Car accident lawyer in Royal Palm Beach with The Dash Cam Lawyer® branding, highlighting PIP, comparative fault, deadlines, dash cam evidence, and uninsured motorist coverage

Royal Palm Beach is a village in central Palm Beach County, inland and west of West Palm Beach. The village website places it about 10 miles west of the Atlantic Ocean. Daily driving often runs along busy highways like Okeechobee Boulevard (SR 704), Southern Boulevard (SR 80), State Road 7 (U.S. 441), and Royal Palm Beach Boulevard.

A crash on those roads still leaves medical bills, a damaged vehicle, a crash report, and an insurer that wants a recorded statement before you have advice.

I am Shannon J. Sagan, Fla. Bar #10793, The Dash Cam Lawyer®. I focus on Palm Beach County injury claims, including car crashes in Royal Palm Beach. Palm Springs and Belle Glade offices serve Royal Palm Beach and Palm Beach County.

Hablamos español.

This page covers first steps, scene duties, PIP, fault, deadlines, dash cam footage, and how I handle a village crash. It is not the countywide FAQ page. Belle Glade has its own undated page: Belle Glade car accident lawyer.

Important: talk to counsel before you call any insurer

Do not call your own insurer before speaking with an attorney. The duty to cooperate with your own carrier is real, but it does not require you to do it immediately. Never give a recorded statement to any insurer first, including your own insurer. Get legal advice before you dial. Plus, talking to an injury lawyer for an initial consultation does not cost you anything.

Royal Palm Beach roads this page covers

These corridors come from village, FDOT, and Palm Beach County sources. This page does not rank intersections or invent crash counts.

Okeechobee Boulevard (SR 704) is the east-west state road through the village. County lists place it inside Royal Palm Beach near Royal Palm Beach Boulevard and near SR 7 / U.S. 441. Drivers use it between western Palm Beach County and coastal cities, including West Palm Beach

Southern Boulevard (SR 80) runs along the south side of this cluster toward Wellington and points east.

State Road 7 (U.S. 441) is the posted north-south state road on the village’s east side.

Royal Palm Beach Boulevard is a local north-south arterial; Village Hall is at 1050 Royal Palm Beach Boulevard.

After a crash in Royal Palm Beach

If you are safe enough to act:

  1. Call 911. Report injuries and the location. Ask for law enforcement and medical help.
  2. Seek medical care. Adrenaline hides pain. PIP medical benefits often turn on timely initial treatment under Fla. Stat. § 627.736. Nearby emergency care includes HCA Florida Palms West Hospital on Southern Boulevard in Loxahatchee, or a qualified urgent care center.
  3. Exchange information if the other driver is still there. Safety and documentation first. Do not argue fault in the roadway.
  4. Preserve dash cam and phone video. Lock the original. Make a backup. Do not edit it. Nearby cameras overwrite.
  5. Photograph the scene if you can do it safely. Lane position, signals, debris, and resting points matter later.
  6. Do not call your own insurer before speaking with an attorney. Do not give a recorded statement to any insurer first.
  7. Contact counsel while evidence is still available. Coverage questions and video preservation get harder with delay.

Scene duties, PIP, fault, and deadlines

Florida splits criminal scene rules from your civil injury claim.

Injury or death crashes. Under Fla. Stat. § 316.027, a driver involved in a crash that causes injury or death must stop and remain until the duties in § 316.062 are met. Willfully leaving can be a felony, with the degree tied to injury severity. A conviction also triggers driver license revocation for at least three years.

Property-damage attended crashes. Fla. Stat. § 316.061 requires a stop and remain until § 316.062 duties are fulfilled. A violation is a second-degree misdemeanor.

Duty to give information and aid. Fla. Stat. § 316.062 requires identifying information and reasonable assistance to an injured person, among other scene duties in that statute.

Those criminal rules punish a fleeing driver. They do not pay your bills. The civil file is about coverage, proof, and damages.

PIP. Florida personal injury protection under Fla. Stat. § 627.736 may cover a portion of medical expenses and related benefits according to your policy and the statute. Medical PIP generally requires qualifying initial treatment within 14 days of the crash. PIP is a first-party claim against your own auto policy. It is like having health insurance. That is why carriers move fast to record your statement.

Do not call your own insurer before speaking with an attorney. The duty to cooperate does not require doing it immediately. Never give a recorded statement to any insurer first.

Fla. Stat. § 627.736(6)(g) provides that an insured seeking PIP benefits must comply with policy terms, which can include an examination under oath, and that compliance is a condition precedent to receiving benefits. That is PIP policy compliance, not permission for an uncounseled recorded interview on day one. Sequence: medical care, preserve evidence, talk to counsel, then handle insurer contact on advised terms.

Modified Comparative fault. Insurers may still argue you were speeding, distracted, or failed to yield. Under Fla. Stat. § 768.81(6), in covered negligence actions, a party found greater than 50 percent at fault for their own harm may not recover damages (medical malpractice under chapter 766 is treated differently). Dash cam footage matters because that greater-than-50-percent bar is a hard stop.

Deadlines. For many Florida negligence actions, Fla. Stat. § 95.11(5)(a) sets a two-year limitations period. PIP and UM claims also have timing and notice rules. Do not wait on a hope that the other driver’s carrier will “be fair.”

Dash cam footage in a Royal Palm Beach claim

Village crashes often happen in motion on Okeechobee Boulevard, Royal Palm Beach Boulevard, or SR 7 / U.S. 441. Witnesses typically leave when emergency responders or police arrive. An adjuster who never saw the intersection will still assign fault percentages.

A dash cam can show lane position, signals, traffic controls, and what each driver did before impact. It can also capture a driver who left the scene. That is identification and proof, not a shortcut around coverage. Preserve the original file. Do not splice clips. More: How to use dashcam footage in a Florida car accident claim.

I also evaluate claims with no dash cam: crash reports, other cameras, vehicle damage, medical records, and coverage. Footage helps. It is not a requirement to contact me.

Uninsured and underinsured drivers

If the at-fault driver has no liability coverage, or too little, injury damages beyond PIP often turn on uninsured/underinsured motorist (UM/UIM) coverage on your own policy, when purchased and applicable. The only problem is that 9 out of 10 of my clients do not have this coverage despite many of them telling me they have “full coverage”.

UM is still a claim against your own carrier. Do not call your own insurer before speaking with an attorney. Never give a recorded statement to any insurer first.

How I handle a Royal Palm Beach crash

When you contact me about a Royal Palm Beach injury crash, I focus on medical documentation and PIP sequencing without reckless early statements, preserving dash cam and third-party video when the facts support it, the crash report, applicable liability/PIP/UM coverage, comparative fault under § 768.81(6), and the two-year negligence period in § 95.11(5)(a).

I do not promise a result. Facts, coverage, injuries, and proof decide the file. If a lawyer starts giving you numbers and promises results up front, I’d get a second opinion.

Contingency fee: no fee unless I recover for you. That is not a prediction of results.

Frequently asked questions

Do you have an office in Royal Palm Beach?

No. Palm Springs and Belle Glade offices serve Royal Palm Beach and Palm Beach County. Consultations can be in person by appointment, by phone, or by video. Although we love meeting all of our new clients at the office, most clients find it much more convenient to handle everything online. This page does not replace the Belle Glade car accident lawyer page.

Should I call my insurer right after a crash on Okeechobee Boulevard or SR 7?

Do not call your own insurer before speaking with an attorney. The duty to cooperate does not require doing it immediately. Never give a recorded statement to any insurer first. Fla. Stat. § 627.736(6)(g) addresses PIP policy compliance, including examination under oath as a possible condition precedent to PIP benefits.

What if the other driver left the scene in Royal Palm Beach?

Call 911, get medical care, and preserve video and vehicle details. Injury or death leave-the-scene conduct is addressed in Fla. Stat. § 316.027. Property-damage attended leave-the-scene is addressed in § 316.061. Scene duties appear in § 316.062. The civil claim may turn on PIP and, if the driver stays unknown, UM if you have it.

How does dash cam footage help a Royal Palm Beach claim?

It can show what happened on those village corridors when memories conflict. It also matters under § 768.81(6) if an insurer tries to put more than half the fault on you. Footage is evidence. Coverage still decides who pays.

How long do I have to bring a negligence lawsuit in Florida?

Many negligence actions fall under the two-year period in Fla. Stat. § 95.11(5)(a). PIP and UM have separate notice and limitations issues. Do not wait to get advice.

What if the insurer says I was more than half at fault?

Modified Comparative fault still applies under § 768.81(6). Greater than 50 percent fault for your own harm can bar recovery in covered negligence claims. Evidence, including dash cam footage, matters. I do not predict how a jury would divide percentages.

Do you only take cases with dash cam footage?

No. Although I specialize in dash cameras, and footage helps proof and identification,  I also evaluate claims built on witnesses, other cameras, the crash report, vehicle damage, medical records, and coverage.

Who pays medical bills after a Royal Palm Beach crash?

Often PIP under § 627.736 first, then a liability claim if coverage exists, and UM/UIM on your policy if the other driver is uninsured, underinsured, or unknown and your policy applies. Coverage review is case-specific.
